The museum documents how society has developed in Slovakia from medieval times to the present. Besides attractive exhibitions on display, a tour of the museum includes the castle’s impressive interior. Walk up the splendid staircase dating from the reign of Maria Theresa and then continue to the top of the Crown Tower with stunning views of the city and surrounding area.

The Museum of History and the courtyard of the main palace of the Bratislava Castle will be exceptionally closed on Monday, 26th May 2025. You can only visit the rest of the castle grounds and the exhibition The Shape of the Spirit – The Power and Beauty of African Art in the Northern Walls. A ticket can be bought directly at the exhibition.
